3 Reasons Why Shippers Should Work With More 3PL Companies

Published: February 27, 2020 | Author: Rose Godwin | Comments: No Comments

1. Better Rates

One of the easiest ways to save on shipping freight is to work with a new 3PL company. Many freight brokers, in order to earn a shipper’s business for the first time, will present very competitive rates. Working with a new 3PL is an excellent way for the shipper to save their company money and also to assess the level of service, communication, and follow-up the broker is capable of.

2. Better Carrier Reach

If a shipper has loads that are difficult to cover due to lane or commodity, working with an additional 3PL company might be the answer. Much like manufacturers are an expert in their niche product, many 3PLs focus on building carrier networks for a niche lane, product and/or industry. The odds are good that there will be a freight broker out there that can cover that challenging lane for the right rate.

3. Customized Solutions

There has never been a better time for supply chain technology. Similar to the idea of a being experts in a specific lane or commodity, many 3PLs have also diversified using cutting-edge technology. New TMS systems, tracking/tracing applications, and other software have made it possible for freight brokers to present customized solutions to a shipper’s biggest challenges.

We believe highly in the saying, “don’t knock it until you try it.” Working with a new 3PL that can deliver great rates, better carrier reach, and customized shipping solutions may, indeed, turn out to be valuable for the shipper and their company.
