Partnering with a 3PL Committed to Supply Chain Sustainability

As the world celebrates Earth Day today, we reflect on the importance of environmental sustainability – especially for the transportation and logistics industry. Partnering with a 3PL focused on supply chain sustainability helps to reduce freight transportation-related emissions and air pollution on our planet. Here’s how our team at Route is committed to sustainable logistics, and how we encourage our carrier partners to join us in advancing supply chain sustainability.

Freight Matters to Supply Chain Sustainability

Route Transportation and Logistics is a proud SmartWay® Transport Partner, and participates in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s mission to advance supply chain sustainability.

SmartWay is a voluntary program launched by the EPA in 2004 to help freight shippers, carriers, logistics companies, and other transportation businesses reduce freight transportation-related emissions. By reporting and measuring fuel efficiency and emissions, SmartWay partners are proactively reducing their environmental footprint year after year.

There are over 3,700 participants that contribute to the partnership’s savings of 280 million barrels of oil, $37.5 billion in fuel costs and 134 million tons of air pollutants.

How we support the mission to advance supply chain sustainability

Every day our team is supporting SmartWay initiatives by building awareness for the program and encouraging carriers to apply for the partnership. Each member of our team has the SmartWay logo in their email signature so that all of the carrier partners we work with have the opportunity to see it. The Smartway logo is also presented on several webpages on our website to build general public awareness of the program.
