Route Transportation & Logistics, Inc. announced that President Craig Cappello will be stepping down from his role effective May 1st, 2023. Cappello established the company in 2009 and has overseen operations for nearly 14 years.
The board of directors at Route has asked current Vice President of Logistics, Ron Costello, to assume the newly created role of Chief Logistics Officer. In his new role, Costello will oversee all operations of the company.
Costello has worked in the transportation and logistics industry for over 30 years and has been with Route since 2020. His extensive knowledge of the industry and previous experience developing a freight brokerage, truckline, and warehousing company makes him an exceptional choice for Route’s Chief Logistics Officer position.
As of May 1st, Ron Costello will begin his new role as Chief Logistics Officer, and Craig Cappello will assume the role of trusted advisor and consultant with Route. Craig Cappello will also retain his seat on the Route board of directors, helping to lead strategy and direction in the coming years.
During Cappello’s time as President, Route achieved numerous milestones and experienced significant growth. Under his leadership, the company built a reputation of honest and trustworthy service, expanded its carrier network to over 30,000 partners, and in 2019 was recognized as an Inc. 5000 company – one of the fastest-growing private companies in America. In 2022, Route was acquired by CABVI (Cincinnati Association for the Blind & Visually Impaired).
In a statement, Cappello expressed gratitude for the many years of supporting Route’s growth and for the hard work of the company’s employees. He stated, “By embracing technology, change, and a culture of growth, we built an amazing company with incredibly talented people. Without my team, none of this would have been possible.”
